Old Town councillors approved the funding application through Eastbourne Borough Council's Devolved Budget scheme.

The request was made by Old Town Hub Community Interest Company (CIC), a locally run group that recently took over the running of the courts and aims to get more people playing tennis there, alongside opening a café.

Old Town councillors also granted £200 for a Christmas family fun day to go ahead at St Michael's and All Angels Church in Willingdon Road and £250 for an extra tree to be planted along Vicarage Drive.

In Upperton, councillors provided £195 towards keeping on external lighting at St Mary's Church in Church Street, throughout the winter.

Meanwhile, Langney councillors approved a £500 request from Treebourne for a wildflower meadow in Sevenoaks Park.

A further £1,726 was agreed by St Anthony's councillors for a new park bench to be installed in the ward.
