Nominating Assets of Community Value

To nominate a site as an Asset of Community Value in Lewes district or Eastbourne your community group should have a local connection to the land or building to be nominated.

Local parish councils and constituted local community groups can make nominations as well as the following groups:

  • unincorporated groups; there must be at least 21 members on the local electoral register or that of a neighbouring authority

  • a neighbourhood forum

  • a charity

  • a community interest company

  • a company limited by guarantee that is non-profit distributing

  • an industrial and provident society that is non-profit distributing

All the organisations eligible to make nominations can be find by visiting Assets of Community Value Regulations 2012.

Information required when you make a nomination

The following details are required to make a nomination:

  • the address of the property/land that you wish to nominate

  • details of the owner and current occupants

  • the extent of the site and its proposed boundaries

  • reasons why you think the property/land is an Asset of Community Value

  • the type of community group that is making the nomination (your right to nominate)
