The Home Upgrade Grant is a Government backed scheme delivered by Local Authorities to improve the energy efficiency of eligible households for free (a contribution will be expected from Landlords).
The Government announced on 22 March 2023 that consortium made up of Lewes District Council, Eastbourne Borough Council, Hastings Borough Council, and Rother District Council have been awarded combined funding of £6,230,700 for the second phase of the Home Upgrade Grant.
The scheme aims to raise the energy efficiency of low energy performance homes which do not have gas central heating by installing insulation measures, installing renewable heating technologies, and upgrading single glazed windows to double glazing units.
The scheme will start on 1 April 2023 and will run for 2 years ending 31 March 2025.
To qualify for the scheme, you must meet the following criteria:
- Have no access to mains gas
- Have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rated D - G.
- Have a gross annual household income under £31,000.
- Own or privately rent.
The aim is to help residents to improve the warmth and comfort of their homes whilst also reducing energy bills, carbon emissions and the levels of fuel poverty across both Lewes District and Eastbourne Borough.
Details of how residents can apply will be made available over the coming months. Please revisit this webpage again in May, when we are expecting to be able to provide a further update.
