Crematorium and cemeteries

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

During the ongoing coronavirus pandemic please note the following:

Update on funeral services at Eastbourne crematorium and cemeteries

All our cemeteries and crematorium grounds are now open to the general public. We ask residents to please follow the social distancing guidance and keep 2 metres apart.

Please note: the Government restrictions mean that ancillary services at the crematorium are not available. This means that unfortunately,  the book of remembrance room is closed until further notice and the crematorium buildings are closed at the weekends.

Funerals

  • Funeral services are still taking place but should only be attended by a small number of family members (no more than 10)
  • Those family members attending funerals should practice social distancing and wash their hands regularly
  • Those showing symptoms of Covid-19 should not attend funerals or any part of the cemetery or crematorium grounds

Those over 70, with an underlying health problem, or pregnant women are particularly encouraged to heed this advice. This may mean that they may have to miss the funeral, or hold the funeral, or have a memorial service at a later date.
