Domestic abuse

Anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, socio-economic status, sexuality or background. Sadly, incidents of abuse are increasing during lockdown.

The household isolation instruction issued by government as a result of coronavirus does not apply if you need to leave your home to escape domestic abuse.

For anyone who feels they are at risk of abuse, it is important to remember that there is help and support available to you, including police response, online support, helplines, refuges and other services.

We have produced the fact sheet below that provides information about how to get help if you need support, and the housing options available to you.

The Portal provides information on services available for women, men, girls and boys in Brighton and Hove and East Sussex.
