Department for Work and Pensions: Employment and benefits support

If you have lost your job, are working reduced hours or are self-employed and getting less work or no work because of COVID-19, the Understanding Universal Credit website will guide you through employment benefits and how to claim. Once claiming, Jobcentre Plus should contact you and run through what support they can offer with help to prepare for, find and stay in work including training and work experience schemes.

National Careers Service

The National Careers Service is a free and impartial online and telephone service providing advice and guidance on different careers and those matched to your skills and interests, finding and financing learning and apprenticeships, and job hunting.

People Matter

Provides free information, advice and guidance to anyone living in Eastbourne aged 19 and over (or aged 18 if receiving benefits) looking for work. The range of services include CV writing, help with job applications and careers advice.

Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA)

The SCDA Employability Team offers a range of programmes to support people across East Sussex who are not working, including job searching, access to training and education and support to find voluntary work, work trials or work placements.

Youth Employability Service (YES)

YES is a free service for people aged 15-18 years in East Sussex who are not in education, employment or training, or are at risk of not being in education, employment and training. Their advisers will work with young people on a one to one basis and offer support and guidance on college options, training opportunities, apprenticeships, work experience and employment, and job searching.
