Eastbourne Borough Council has been successful in securing £1.2million from the government’s housing infrastructure fund.
The grant will help the council bring forward the development of 102 new homes at the recently acquired site in Bedfordwell Road.
This well-known location runs parallel to the railway line at Whitley Road Bridge and includes the disused pump house which will also be renovated.
Councillor David Tutt, Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council, said:
“I am delighted that council officers have secured this funding, it is excellent news and will help deliver an important local housing project.”
The first phase of works is due to start in late February and will focus on site preparation including land remediation works.
