COP26: Council supports day of action

Eastbourne Borough Council is supporting a planned march on November 6 in support of the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice.

Organised by the Eastbourne COP26 Coalition, people are gathering at Bankers Corner in Terminus Road at 12noon and after marching through the town centre will gather at the Wish Tower at 2pm where there will be speakers and music.

With marches taking place across the globe, organisers hope the procession in Eastbourne will be very colourful and are encouraging banners, costumes and musical instruments.

Councillor Jonathan Dow, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, said:

“COP26 has focused minds on the urgency needed to reverse the calamitous impacts of climate change and the march through Eastbourne on Saturday is an opportunity for residents to peacefully demonstrate their solidarity with other people from around the world.”
