A new way of delivering housing services has been launched today across the borough.
Homes First is the new housing services team bringing together staff from Eastbourne Homes, Eastbourne Borough Council and Lewes District Council to work as a single team creating a more efficient way of working. This change has been made to provide a better housing service for residents.
The team will offer a full range of housing services including housing advice, homelessness services, tenancy management, repairs and maintenance and private sector housing.
The new initiative is part of a wider sharing of services between the two councils designed to maintain and improve frontline services.
Residents of council homes in Eastbourne will remain tenants of Eastbourne Homes Ltd, who deliver housing management services on behalf of Eastbourne Borough Council. Residents of council homes in the district will remain tenants of Lewes District Council.
Chair of Eastbourne Homes Board, Roger Eastwood, said: “I am delighted that we are launching Homes First which will enable us to run stronger and more efficient services, whilst continuing to put our residents first.”
