A multi-agency operation set up by the Eastbourne Business Crime Group was active on the streets of the town centre recently.

Ten officers patrolled throughout the town centre providing a reassuring presence for both local businesses and people enjoying some Christmas shopping in the newly opened Beacon.

Sussex Police, British Transport Police, Railway Enforcement, Neighbourhood First and the Beacon security team all took part in the action to target shoplifters and any anti-social behaviour.

Councillor John Ungar, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said:

“This was a great example of partnership working within our town showing local businesses we are there to support them and make the experience for people doing their Christmas shopping, the enjoyable experience it should be.”
