Eastbourne’s Mayor Councillor Gill Mattock will lead an intrepid six-strong team of women to scale the heights of the 02 arena to raise money for her chosen charities.
The Mayor and team will be given a short briefing before they embark on the sunset hour-long walk that will take them 170 ft into the London skyline on 29 August.
Councillor Mattock said: "I wanted it to be a team of women to go with my theme of focussing on women this year, so I collared a few friends. We will fortunately be attached by ropes as we do the walk! I’m looking forward to the views over London and it should be a lot of fun while raising money for Wayfinder Woman and dementia charity Memory Lane."
The other members of the team will be close friends Dorothy Proietti and Chris Kelly, the Mayor’s goddaughter Alice Goad, Debbie Smith, from the Mayor’s fundraising committee, and chief reporter of the Eastbourne Herald, Annemarie Field.
Anyone who would like to sponsor the Mayor and her team can post a cheque, made payable to The Mayor’s Charity, to Eastbourne Town Hall, Grove Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4UG.
