Eastbourne Borough Council’s Neighbourhood First Team joined forces with youngsters and tree wardens to help plant trees at The Oval last weekend.

Forty different species of small trees, donated by The Kent Tree and Pond Partnership, were planted by children from The Kids Education Recreation Arts and Linguistics Club with help from Neighbourhood First and Kent tree wardens.

Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd attended the planting in Channel View Road, Eastbourne, where children learnt about the important role of trees in the environment.

Councillor Jonathan Dow, Lead Member for Place Services, said: “It was great our Neighbourhood First team could help children plant trees. We need to keep planting new trees to ensure healthy trees for generations to come.”
