Consultation launched over gambling policy in Lewes

People are being invited to have their say on Lewes’s future gambling policy.

Lewes District Council is required to renew the policy every three years and the existing one is due to expire in January 2019.

The policy lists the guidelines to be followed when it issues licences to businesses such as casinos, bingo clubs, betting shops, adult gaming centres and family entertainment centres.

The main purposes of the Gambling Act are to prevent gambling from either being a source of, or being associated with, crime and disorder or being used to support crime. It aims to ensure gambling is conducted in a fair and open manner, and to protect children and other vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling.
