Newhaven shoppers are being given one hour’s free parking in two town centre car parks from 19 November.
Lewes District Council, in conjunction with Newhaven Town Council, has decided to abolish the existing 80p charge for up to one hour’s parking in the Lower Place and Dacre Road multi storey car parks.
Instead shoppers will be able to park free for the first hour with existing charges staying the same from the second hour onwards.
Leader of Lewes District Council, Councillor Andy Smith, said: “As we embark on the regeneration of Newhaven, we want to do as much as we can to attract more people into the town centre and by offering free parking in two car parks we hope this will boost business in the high street in the lead up to Christmas.”
