Lewes District Council is supporting the Great British Spring Clean between March 25 and April 10.
Organised by Keep Britain Tidy, the annual spring clean campaign is in its seventh year and hopes are high that thousands of #LitterHeroes will again join forces to collect as much rubbish as possible.
Councillor Julie Carr, Cabinet Member for recycling, waste and open spaces, said: “The district has a proud record of keeping towns and villages clean and tidy, with great efforts always made by volunteers and the council to counter the curse of litter.
“People power in the district never fails to amaze and inspire me and I’m delighted that Lewes District Council will be making bags and litter pickers available to all those taking part.”
The council will also collect the refuse collected and promote litter picking events in local communities on social media channels.
Councillor Carr added: “We want to highlight all the efforts of local groups, so please get in touch if you’re planning to get involved.
“There is also loads of helpful information on the council website, including details of groups that residents can join up with.”
