Summer may just have finished but plans are already underway for spring bulb planting in Lewes district.
Lewes District Council will work with contractor Burleys to plant a staggering 29,000 tulips and 4,000 crocuses that will be nectar rich for bees and other pollinators.
Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Environmental Impact Councillor Isabelle Linington said: “It may seem early but it’s essential we plan properly to ensure that the emerging bees and butterflies will have a rich source of nectar when they need it most. The spring flowers will have a real impact on our wildlife and its survival.”
