Tackle our plastic seas with Newhaven beach clean - event cancelled

Event cancelled - please be aware that due to the severe weather, this event has been cancelled.

A beach clean will be held at Newhaven on Sunday March 4 as part of the Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean campaign.

The event, from 10am to 1pm, is being organised by Lewes District Council’s ranger team who will provide litter pickers, bags and gloves.

Anyone wanting to join in should meet at the West Beach car park, Fort Road, Newhaven, and wear sturdy shoes and a waterproof depending on the weather.

Councillor Isabelle Linington, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “As highlighted in the BBC’s Blue Planet series, we are becoming increasingly aware of the damage plastic waste is having on our marine life. We hope as many people as possible will come along and join in this beach clean as part of the Keep Britain Tidy national campaign.”

Other events in the district will be listed at http://www.keepbritaintidy.org/get-involved/support-our-campaigns/great-british-spring-clean.

The event is being supported by The Castle Hill Group and Newhaven Port and Properties. For more information contact the ranger team on rangers@lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk.
