Re-imagining Newhaven

In June 2020, Lewes District Council submitted a bid for £7.2 million from the Government’s Future High Streets Fund to help transform Newhaven Town Centre and High Street, creating up to 200 jobs by 2024. The Re-imagining Newhaven programme is the culmination of 18 months’ work to give residents and businesses the chance to shape the future of their town. To support the bid further, the Council has committed to co-funding a number of initiatives should Government award us funding.

Government has announced a provisional offer of just over £5m. The Council will now review the programme options ahead of a further announcement in Spring 2021. Please see the Council’s news article:
