Supplementary Planning Guidance and Supplementary Planning Documents
Additional guidance on the way planning policies are implemented is referred to as supplementary guidance. There are different types of guidance. Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) and Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) expand upon existing adopted planning policies and have been subject to statutory consultation prior to adoption by the council. Technical Advice Notes (TAN) and Technical Guidance Notes (TGN) are prepared to aid the planning application process and are not subject to consultation.
Lewes District Council

Following amendments to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) first made in 2019, the government's approach to affordable housing has changed. In accordance with Paragraph 65 of the December 2024 NPPF 2024, the requirement for 40% affordable housing set out in
the Lewes Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document will only apply to developments of 10 or more homes.
