Salary: £41,511 to £50,788 plus £4k market supplement

Come and join our team as a Registered Building Inspector based in the historic town of Lewes and working in the beautiful semi-rural Lewes District comprising a number of small towns and villages and encompassing part of the South Downs National Park. You will find our work both interesting and varied.
We are looking for an experienced Building Control professional to assume responsibility for allocated Building Control applications working as part of our specialist team.
The main duties of the role will include examination of plans, site inspection visits, enforcement of legislation and dealing effectively with reported emergency and other urgent safety cases.
The successful candidate will have an ethos of excellent customer focussed service and be registered with the BSR at 2C or above with significant experience working as a Building Control professional ideally with some experience working within a Local Authority Building Control team.
You should preferably hold a degree (e.g. Building Control Surveying / Building Surveying) OR have a minimum HNC in Building Construction with significant and relevant construction industry experience. You should possess an excellent knowledge of the relevant technical guidance and current legislation, being able to demonstrate good professional assessment skills applicable to more complex cases.
You will be a good team player, be self-motivated and be able to work under pressure. You will also help to support, develop and mentor other members of the team.
Additionally you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be computer literate and possess a full, clean driving licence.
In addition to the flexibility of work location, we offer some flexibility on working hours, and 26 days annual leave - rising to 30 days after 5 years' service.
