Tenants contents insurance
Protect your belongings with our special Homes First insurance plan, designed for council tenants.

What if you lost everything in your home?
Have you ever thought about what would happen if you lost all your things at home? Things like your TV, furniture, clothes, or personal items? Could you afford to buy everything new if there was a fire or a flood?
What the council's insurance covers (and doesn't)
As a council tenant, our insurance protects the building itself. But it doesn't cover the things inside your home - that's your responsibility.
Replacing all your belongings can be very expensive. That's why we highly recommend you get contents insurance. This helps you replace your items if they are lost or damaged.
Homes First insurance plan
Homes First have teamed up with Aviva, the UK's largest insurer, to provide a home contents insurance scheme. This is available for all Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council tenants and leaseholders.
This plan offers:
- Exclusive rates
- No extra money to pay if you need to make a claim (this is called an "excess" with other insurers)
- You can pay monthly by Direct Debit, making it easier to manage.
What Homes First insurance can cover
