Lewes District Local Plan 2003 saved policies

The Lewes District Local Plan was adopted in March 2003. Some of its policies have now been replaced by the policies of the Lewes District Local Plan Part 1: Joint Core Strategy 2010-2030, adopted on 11 May 2016.  Its remaining policies are currently under review and will eventually be replaced by the Local Plan Part 2: Site Allocations and Development Management Policies.

Four neighbourhood plans in the district have been formally 'made' so now form part of the development plan for the district.

Implications of the National Planning Policy Framework on the 2003 Lewes District Local Plan

The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) was published on 27th March 2012. As a consequence, we reviewed the 'saved' Local Plan 2003 policies to determine whether they are consistent with the NPPF. You can download a summary of an assessment or our ‘saved’ Local Plan 2003 policies against the NPPF below. We have also made available below the original 2007 full list of ‘saved’ and ‘not saved’ 2003 Local Plan policies and the letter of confirmation from the government of the South East.
