Levelling Up Fund

Information on the Levelling Up Fund for which Lewes District and Eastbourne Borough Councils are both preparing bid submissions.

The Levelling Up Fund is central to Government’s ambition to level up the country – investing in high value local infrastructure and building stronger and more resilient local economies and communities. It is especially intended to support investment in places where it can make the biggest difference to everyday life, including ex-industrial areas, deprived towns and coastal communities. Lewes District has been named as a Priority 1 Area (highest priority area) but the bidding process is competitive between all local authorities who are able to submit bids of up to £20 million.

The focus of the £4.8 billion fund is on:

  1. Local transport investment
  2. Urban regeneration and town centre investment
  3. Cultural investment
