The government wants to reorganise local government in East Sussex. There are various options for how this could happen, and residents are now being asked for their views.

The new council arrangements are expected to be operational in 2028.

Councillor Stephen Holt, Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council, said:

"I am clear that if it is the will of the government that authorities such as ours should form a unitary council, then it is fundamentally important that the views of residents are taken into account so that they have their say in the services that they rightly expect.

"Whatever the outcome of the reorganisation, anything that doesn't address the huge financial deficit that all councils are facing due to the costs of adult social care and homelessness, will threaten the future of all our public services. Whatever comes next, we must make sure that it delivers the public services we need, whilst also protecting Eastbourne's unique characteristics and assets."

Following the consultation detailed proposals will be submitted to government in September.

The consultation will be available to complete online from Monday, May 12 to Monday, June 23 at:
