The funds were accrued over the past year from players who chose to support the lottery's Community Fund directly instead of a specific good cause.

These grants will top up the income raised from individual ticket sales for many of the charities and organisations signed up to the local lottery.

Councillor Johnny Denis, Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture, Tourism & Leisure, said: "The Lewes District Local Lottery continues to be a fantastic way for residents to support their community while having a chance to win prizes. It's great to see money raised through the Community Fund making a tangible difference, providing support to excellent local organisations for the benefit of people across Lewes district."

Among the recipients is Pippa's Group, a forest school nursery that provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. Their curriculum focuses on play and exploration, supporting children's development in partnership with parents.

Also receiving funds is Lotus Families, a women-centred charity dedicated to preventing violence against women and girls. They offer trauma-informed services, including one-to-one and group support, with a focus on early intervention and empowerment to help women in their recovery.

Another beneficiary is the Seaford Down's Syndrome and Special Needs Support Group, a charity that enriches the lives of children with special needs and their families. They provide regular activities such as swimming and music classes, as well as essential training and guidance for parents.

Since its launch, the Lewes District Local Lottery has raised more than £102,000 for local causes, with 60p of every £1 spent on tickets going directly back into the community. This year alone, it has amassed more than £18,000 for local groups.
