Toothpaste tubes

You can recycle your toothpaste tubes at home. Simply ensure they are empty, then put them in your recycling bin. See our guide for quick tips on reduction and alternatives.

Other information

Sustainable alternatives

  • Toothpaste tablets: these are solid tablets that you chew before brushing. They offer a completely plastic-free option.
  • Solid toothpaste sticks: similar to tablets, these are applied to your teeth before brushing and come in a solid, stick form.
  • Refill travel tubes: if you have small travel-sized tubes, you can refill them from larger, mostly empty tubes to save money and reduce waste, especially when travelling.

Tips to use less

  • Cut the tube: when you think a tube is empty, cut it in half lengthwise. You can often get several more days' worth of toothpaste from it.
  • Pump dispensers: some brands offer toothpaste in pump dispensers, which dispense a consistent, pea-sized amount and are designed to minimize waste.
