Community Open Day: 'A celebration of unity and solidarity across communities'

Everyone is welcome to attend. Mosque leaders are particularly hopeful to see residents from across the Havens, Telscombe, and East Saltdean, and people of all faiths and backgrounds are encouraged to visit.
Saqib Miah from Peacehaven Mosque said:
"Creating positivity and unity is at the heart of Islam. Negativity will always remain weak, and we must never allow hate or fear to divide us.
"We warmly invite everyone to our Open Day - a day of friendship, understanding, and community. Come as our guests, learn more about our faith and values, and share in an atmosphere of peace and togetherness.
"All are welcome. Let's build bridges through respect, kindness, and hope."
With guided tours, interactive exhibitions, Q&A sessions, and opportunities to meet imams and volunteers, the event will give visitors the chance to learn about the mosque's history and its wider role in the community.
Councillor Zoe Nicholson, Leader of Lewes District Council, said:
"This Open Day is not just about rebuilding bricks and mortar, it's a celebration of unity and solidarity across communities, showing that we all stand as one in support of Peacehaven Mosque and all those who worship there.
"We reject hate and intolerance, and welcome everyone to join us."
The strength of feeling is also evident in an online card set up by Lewes District Council for messages of support.
General Sanders of the 4th Battalion, British Army, wrote: "Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We fight for freedom, but we also fight for peace. The Muslim community is welcome in this country, as is everyone else. No matter what colour or religion, we stand together."
District and county councillor for Peacehaven, Chris Collier, said: "I stand in solidarity with my neighbours and friends at Peacehaven Mosque, and I'll continue to stand with you. We will not accept violence or intimidation."
Christine Robinson, Deputy Leader of Lewes District Council and county councillor, shared: "Standing with you shoulder to shoulder in the face of this awful attack on your community. We will never let hate divide us, in peace and solidarity."
Darrell Gale, Director of Public Health for East Sussex, posted: "So sorry for all you've been put through by this horrific attack. We stand together in peace and hope. With love."
Doors open at 3pm. on Saturday, November 15, at Peacehaven Mosque. All are welcome, and refreshments will be provided.
