A proud seaside history

Eastbourne Bandstand has been a focal point of the town's seafront since 1935, when it was built to designs by Borough Council Engineer Leslie Rosevere. Designed in an elegant Neo‑Grec style and finished in cream faience (a glazed ceramic commonly used in early 20th‑century seaside architecture for its elegance and durability) with blue and green detailing, its circular form, blue dome and silver finial have made it one of Eastbourne's most recognisable landmarks.

The Bandstand was first listed by Historic England in 1998 in recognition of its architectural and historic importance. Nearly a century on, it remains a symbol of Eastbourne's long tradition of live music by the sea.

Summer 2026 - live music returns

The Bandstand will be open for the 2026 summer season, with shows starting on the 1st of May and running through to October.

The season will launch in style with a special fireworks display on opening night. This will kick off a series of events featuring bandstand favourites, including Large 90s, Rubix 80s, Eastbourne Silver Band, and One Vision - Queen Tribute.

Throughout the summer, audiences can enjoy:

  • Tribute shows and big bands
  • Family and kids' concerts
  • 1812 Proms & Firework Nights
  • A packed programme of daytime and evening performances

In an addition, The Eastbourne Bandstand is opening its stage to a new wave of creativity. Alongside our traditional favourites, we are hosting 12 special nights dedicated to fresh, bold, and unexpected performances. We're bringing a new wave of creativity to our iconic seafront.

More updates are coming soon! We are still finalising our line-up and invite artists and local talent to propose their ideas.

Looking to the future

Now approaching 100 years old, the Bandstand has weathered generations of winter storms and sea spray. Following detailed structural assessments carried out with specialist engineers and Historic England, Eastbourne Borough Council is continuing to invest in essential repairs and safety improvements to protect the venue.

More than £1 million has already been committed to recent and ongoing works. The Council remains committed, with partners, to securing the Bandstand's future as a treasured cultural landmark and a centrepiece of Eastbourne's seafront.
