Newhaven Enterprise Zone

With substantial physical capacity for growth, Newhaven is evolving from an historic industrial and marine economy to become a key harbour town on the South Coast.

Newhaven Enterprise Zone (NEZ) was established in April 2017, following agreement between the Government, Lewes District Council and local partners. The NEZ covers eight key sites that offer new employment-generating development opportunities across Newhaven. The ambition is for Newhaven to be transformed into a hub formarine, green and creative industries, building on its natural assets and strategic position.

Since its designation, the NEZ has committed, on average, more than £1.5m each year to support a range of economic and social projects across the town, some of which are highlighted in NEZ Unleashed - Realising Our Potential.

Our investment framework is shaped by the voices of local residents, businesses and civic leaders. We invite all partners - public, private and community - to join us in delivering our vision for the town.

By 2030, Newhaven Enterprise Zone will have been a proven catalyst to support sustainable, good economic growth and business resilience, helping to deliver a new era for Newhaven - a repurposed town centre built on creativity, a thriving business destination driven by our growth sectors and a major contributor to the Sussex regional economy.
