Conservation

Information, advice and guidance for owners, prospective owners, architects, agents, builders and other professionals looking to undertake work on property that has some level of heritage protection.

The vast majority of applications we deal with are for works on Listed Buildings and/or in Conservation Areas.

Conservation Drop-in

Come and meet the conservation officers to discuss any queries you may have involving your listed building or building in a conservation area.

Whilst Eastbourne is a no booking drop-in event, bookings are required for Lewes. Please see booking info after the dates below.

If we feel that the questions asked would benefit from more in-depth advice, we will direct you to our pre-application service where we can discuss complex proposals in more depth.

All advice given at the drop ins will be verbal. There will be no written follow up.

For both authorities each session will be restricted to between 10 and 20 minutes.

Lewes district

Details of how to book the next drop in will be provided shortly. As of 1 April, the sessions will be run by the South Downs National Park and will be held on the dates and times below in the Yarrow Room at Lewes Town Hall.

A booking system will be set up which will allow for 15 minutes slots to be booked automatically.

Please provide as much information as you can to help us give the most detailed feedback. This may include the age of construction, age of architectural features, plans, historic maps, building materials, and so on. Photos will greatly aid the discussion and should show relevant details such as close ups of window glazing bars or frames if discussing windows.
