How do I request a site inspection?

For inspections within the borough of Eastbourne you will need to book a site inspection through the East Sussex Building Control Partnership website. If you are within the Lewes District, the easiest way to request a site inspection is by using our online site inspection request form below, but you can also email or call us.

When are site inspections carried out?

Lewes District Council's building control surveyors carry out site inspections between 10.30am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. Please try to book your inspections in advance giving as much notice as possible. If you require a same day inspection, please call us before 10am and we will try our best to book one in.

What are the inspection stages?

Inspection stages will vary depending on the type of building work you are carrying out, but the typical inspection stages for a new dwelling may include:

  • commencement
  • foundation excavation
  • oversite
  • damp proof course (DPC)
  • drains laid 
  • steels
  • insulation
  • roof
  • drains test
  • final inspection - for when all work has been completed
